Fit4acause is a donation-only fitness and wellness program that supports cancer survivors in the local Concord, NH area. After Renee Plodzik’s initial breast cancer diagnosis in 2014, she founded fit4acause to engage the community in healthier lifestyles while raising funds for cancer survivors. The importance of community support in sustaining healthy living for survivors is integral. Fit4acause is dedicated to helping others accomplish this mission and stands by the motto that “we are STRONG ENOUGH.”
In 2018, fit4acause received the Capital Area Wellness Coalition Well Done Award. As Lynne Novotny, a friend and fit4acause Outdoor Bootcamp participant, so perfectly stated “She’s [Renee] dedicated all her time to cancer survivors. She is so brave and so strong. Fit4acause helps to establish a healthy lifestyle.”
Bootcamp has evolved from a small group of committed participants and now has at least 30-40 people every Sunday. It is amazing to see the growth and enthusiasm this program has had within the community.
The fun, bootcamp style workouts are aimed for any and all fitness abilities. Participants are invited to bring their kids, a donation, and a positive attitude. Workouts are coached by Renee and vary each week including team challenges, hill sprints/walks, track stations, or circuits, which may include battle ropes, sandbags, big tires, bleaches, bodyweight exercises, sled dregs, or hand weights. If that sounds too intimating, do not fear! Renee will guide you in a lower impact version to meet any fitness level. Yoga is also included.
So grab a friend and join us! Fit4acause Outdoor Bootcamp meets every Sunday at Memorial Field in Concord, NH. Find us on Facebook for more information, Fit4acause Outdoor Bootcamp.
Fit4acause Triple Challenge
In 2018, Renee had a vision to begin a “triathlon” and with a small committee created the Fit4acause Triple Challenge, a bike, run, bootcamp event that is held each year in August. This non-competitive event includes local sponsors and brings together hundreds of race day participants to bike 3, 5, or 10 miles, run or walk a 5K, and complete 5 bootcamp stations and/or yoga. The Triple Challenge has raised over $30,000 since it’s conception and continues to grow. It is truly a unique and amazing event featuring a live DJ, a kids fun run, and the best race day tanks and t-shirts! For more information, follow us on Facebook at Fit4acause Triple Challenge.
Cancer Survivor Support
Fit4acause also offers care packages to local patients, including gas cards, spa gift cards, mugs, teas, and sweatshirts, made possible through fit4acause fundraising efforts including Bootcamp.
